Our hand-block printed Charcoal Darpan Market Tote is fashioned after shopping totes common in Indian bazaars -- with lots of space (and two pockets!) to carry meditation or retreat essentials or daily shopping.
Artisans hand-block print chattra Market Totes in richly colored prints inspired by the architecture of India's historical palaces, forts and temples, textiles, and spiritual practices. Crafted in ethical workshop in India using traditional techniques.
Charcoal Darpan Market Tote is named for the amazing, light-reflecting hall of mirrors at Amber Fort in Jaipur. In Indian culture a darpan, a mirror, signifies reflection and faithful depiction.
Hand-block printed in a lovely grey; illuminating orange piping; contrasting inner and outer pockets; adorned with a colorful tassel like those seen on the camels of Rajasthan's great Thar desert.
The artisan's hand work is revealed in each chattra textile, including print density and block alignment; imperfections are characteristic and add to the charm of this traditional technique.
