about giving POP-UP
– Paul Pierre
chattra is honored to offer a curated pop-up shop benefiting Under the Same Sky, a 501c non-profit raising awareness of suicide prevention and helping to create a lifeline for those in need. This limited quantity collection is offered through September, National Suicide Prevention Month.
Through their financial support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Under the Same Sky promotes education, mental health awareness and advocacy, and support for those affected by loss.
Award-wining interior designer Amy Kartheiser's personal experience with the devastating impact of suicide led her to founding Under the Same Sky. After losing her brother to suicide in 2014 and later her nephew as well, Amy and her family struggled to make sense of their losses. Her family found that counseling and support resources helped them grieve and, eventually, move forward. Amy's journey through pain, introspection and empathy and, ultimately, a perspective-shifting move toward concrete action and effecting change, led her to a more active role in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Amy's desire to further the AFSP mission of saving lives and supporting affected families inspired her to host pop-up shops featuring items from her sourcing and adventure travels. The name “under the same sky” was spotted by Amy on an artwork with those words written across it; the phrase, which spoke to her of over-arching togetherness and the power of the human spirit, seemed a perfect fit.
I recently met Amy when I temporarily moved back to my home town of Evanston, Illinois. Walking past her studio store front, spying enticing interior elements, I popped in one day and introduced myself. We connected on our love of texture and textiles, adventure travel, and desire to help.
I hope you enjoy Amy's collection. Shop the links under giving POP-UP for cozy cashmere blankets, bright shawls, block printed caftans, Bhutanese incense, tassel earrings and more. Great gifts for you, for friends; all sales give back to Under the Same Sky.
