chattra Alchi Neck Cushion is named for the hamlet of Alchi high in the Indian Himalayas. Alchi is home to a small, 900-year old Buddhist monastery. This temple complex has some of the best-preserved examples of Buddhist art, from walls covered with hundreds of small seated Buddhas to weathered paintings of ikat fabric decorating the ceilings. A coveted commodity along Asia’s great Silk Road, the skill and time required to dye and weave ikat is so revered in some cultures it is believed the cloth is imbued with magical powers.
Distressed ikat digitally printed in orange, purple, gold tones and detailed with orange diamond stitching. Finished with illuminating orange, a color significant in Hindu, Buddhist and Sikh faiths, and festooned with a fun tassel like those seen on the camels of Rajasthan’s great Thar Desert. 100% cotton cover, liner and buckwheat hull fill. So lovely your practice will be inspired.
Supports the neck during meditation and restorative yoga. Wonderful as gentle, comforting weight on your stomach, ankles or hands during savasana.
