chattra Alchi Zabuton Meditation Cushion is named for the hamlet of Alchi high in the Indian Himalayas. Alchi is home to a small, 900-year old Buddhist monastery. This temple complex has some of the best-preserved examples of Buddhist art, from walls covered with hundreds of small seated Buddhas to weathered paintings of ikat fabric decorating the ceilings. A coveted commodity along Asia’s great Silk Road, the skill and time required to dye and weave ikat is so revered in some cultures it is believed the cloth is imbued with magical powers.
Distressed ikat digitally printed in orange, purple, gold tones and detailed with orange diamond stitching. Accented with illuminating orange, a color significant in Hindu, Buddhist and Sikh faiths, and festooned with a lovely tassel. 100% cotton cover and liner; adjustable buckwheat hull fill contours to the body. So lovely you won't want to put away your chattra meditation cushion.
