journey through Peru

A few photos from our travels in Peru.
While in Peru, we journeyed with Awamaki, a textile conversation non-profit, to the Patacancha and Huillot villages, where we spent time learning from and weaving with the local Quechua women. Passing on traditional textile techniques and heritage is important to the indigenous peoples of the Andes; children begin learning to spin raw fiber into yarn, warp looms, and the traditions of natural dye stuffs at a very young age. These traditional textile processes are still alive and well in this amazing region of the world, supporting an economic livelihood for women.
