Many of chattra's hand-block printed designs are inspired by motifs found in the architecture of India. The Taj Mahal, built in the mid 17th century over more than 20 years, is amongst them. A resting place for Mumtaz Mahal, the wife of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, it's a glorious monument of love (and heartbreak). With white marble facades and domes, inlaid semi-precious stones, perfect symmetry and surrounding gardens, it's no wonder the Taj Mahal is known as "the love palace."
