inspiration from India: New Year's Day, Majuli, Assam

Majuli is an island located in the Brahmaputra River that flows through the northeast India state of Assam.  A UNESCO World Heritage site, it’s known for colorful and intricate silk and cotton weaving.  Majuli is dotted with mustard fields, stilt houses with looms below, and Vashnavite satras (monasteries). Hard to get to, but definitely worth it.
